Frequently asked questions
Plain answers before you book.
Getting started
What happens at my first visit?
Plan on 45 to 60 minutes. You talk with your doctor about your history and what you want from care, have an exam, and hear what was found and what your options are. Treatment starts that day only if you agree.
Can I bring my child, or come while pregnant?
Ask us before you book. We see teens and children with a parent present, and pregnant patients, after the doctor has examined them and talked through the options. We make no promises about conditions outside the muscles and joints, and we may ask you to check with your pediatrician or obstetrician first.
What if I already see another provider?
Tell us who they are. With your permission we send them a note about your visit. We work alongside your physician, and we refer you to one when the exam points outside chiropractic care.
Safety
What are the risks of chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care has risks. Soreness or stiffness for a day or so after a visit is common. Rare serious risks, which the doctor explains before any treatment, include injury to a spinal disc or to an artery in the neck. Tell your doctor about a past stroke, a blood thinner, osteoporosis or a recent injury. You can say no to any part of care.
Will it hurt?
Some people feel pressure or a stretch during an adjustment, and some are sore for a day afterward. Tell your doctor right away if anything hurts, and we stop. Gentler methods are available on request.
Your plan
How many visits will I need?
That depends on what the exam finds and on your goals, so we do not promise a number. Your doctor sets a plan with you after the exam and reviews it at each visit. You can stop at any time.
Do I need x-rays?
Often not. We order imaging only when it is medically necessary, and your doctor explains why before it is taken.
Fees
Do you take my insurance?
We bill most PPO plans and some employer plans, and we check yours before your first visit. What a plan pays differs from plan to plan. How fees work has the details, including a box on Medicare.
What if I do not use insurance?
You pay at the visit, and your doctor names the fee for each part of it first. You have the right to a Good Faith Estimate, and we give you a written estimate in advance, before your first visit. After a visit we can print an itemized receipt.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please call us at least a day ahead when you can. Ask the front desk about our cancellation policy, which we also go over at your first visit.
Still have questions?
Send us a message and the front desk will get back to you. For anything urgent, call us.
